Inner Space Caverns near Georgetown has intrigued adventurous souls for more than 50 years. For residents of Gardens at Verde Vista, this example of Austin nearby attractions is a mere 7 minute drive from home.

Hidden away for more than 10,000 years, Inner Space Cavern was discovered in the spring of 1963 by a Texas Highway Department core drilling team. The team was building a highway in the area, and testing for safety involved drilling test holes. While drilling one of these test holes, the bit suddenly dropped 26 feet, revealing one of the most well-preserved natural caverns in Texas.

The Inner Space Caverns map reveals just how large this underground cave actually is.  For those wondering how deep is Inner Space Caverns, the Texas Speleological Survey reports a depth of 69 feet.

Inner Space Caverns is open year-round and offers several tours, perfect for Georgetown summer family fun.
