Holiday Events Georgetown Texas
Holiday festivities begin the Friday after Thanksgiving with the Lighting of the Square on November 29th. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m., and starting at 6:30 p.m. children can have their photos taken with Santa inside the historic Williamson County Courthouse. Then, sing along with the carolers and visit the unique shops and downtown Georgetown Tx restaurants that stay open late for this special celebration. It’s a uniquely Texan way to kick off the holidays at the famous Georgetown Town Square – named the Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas!
Annual Georgetown Christmas Stroll
You also won’t want to miss the 2019 Georgetown Christmas Stroll on December 6th and 7th. This beautiful event draws visitors from miles away as the Georgetown Square comes alive with twinkling white Christmas lights in the trees, and old-fashioned lamp poles decorated with holiday cheer.
On Friday evening, beginning at 5 p.m., your children can enjoy a dessert with the Grinch, and then watch a special screening of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” at 6 p.m. The movie and popcorn are free, and we recommend you bring chairs and blankets for your family and friends.
The Christmas Stroll parade is a don’t-miss event starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 7th. Bring your chairs and enjoy floats, bands, clowns, and an appearance by Santa. This year, elves will be accepting unwrapped new toys for Blue Santa all along the parade route.
Santa’s Village will be open all day Saturday, with visits from Santa, and photo opportunities from 11:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. Free activities for the kiddos include ice skating, a swing carousel, the Candy Land Obstacle Course, Home Depot workshop and more. Be sure to check out Bethlehem Village, with a live manger and performers representing the times of Jesus of Nazareth.
In addition to all the wonderful shops on the Georgetown Square, more than 150 craft, clothing, and jewelry vendors will be on hand with unique items that will bring a lot of joy under the tree!
Finally, two stages will feature live music from local performers, area schools and organizations.
